Patrologiae cursus completus Patrologia Graeco-Latina (PG) Greek texts, with Latin translation, reaching the Council of Florence (1439). Thanks to the scholars of his time, J.P. Migne (1800-1875) made his collection a fairly complete set of the best editions in his time. The Patrologia Latina and the Patrologia Graeca (along with the Monumenta Germaniae Historica) are among the great 19th century contributions to the scholarship of patristics and the Middle Ages. Within the Roman Catholic Church, Migne's editions put many original texts for the first time into the hands of the priesthood. The 38-volume edition of the Early Church Fathers, edited by Philip Schaff, used many of the Patrologia Latina volumes as its translation base, but the Patrologia Latina contains many works of the Church Fathers not translated by Schaff and not available in English.

The database contains the complete Patrologia Latina, including all prefatory material, original texts, critical apparatus and indexes. Migne's column numbers, essential references for scholars, are also included. The Patrologia Latina comprises the works of the Church Fathers from Tertullian in 200 AD to the death of Pope Innocent III in 1216. The Patrologia Latina Database contains the complete Patrologia Latina, including all prefatory material, original texts, critical apparatus and indexes. The Patrologia Latina (Latin for The Latin Patrology) is an enormous collection of the writings of the Church Fathers and other ecclesiastical writers published by Jacques-Paul Migne between 1841 and 1855, with indices published between 1862 and 1865.
